Leverhulme Trust funded PhD Studentship School of Humanities and Social Sciences incorporating the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Exeter invites applications for a Leverhulme Trust funded PhD studentship commencing in October 2007. The studentship is part of a wider Leverhulme Trust Research Leadership Award granted to Dr Gareth Stansfield for a research project entitled Ethnopolitics in a Globalized World. The holder of the studentship will be a member of the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IAIS), and contribute to the establishment of the inter-disciplinary 'Exeter Centre for Ethno-Political Studies' (EXCEPS).
Prospective applicants may consider a range of possible topics that fall within the broad field 'Ethnopolitics in the Middle East and Islamic World'.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified graduates - you should have or expect to have at least a 2.1 degree, and preferably have a Masters degree at distinction level or equivalent.
The studentship covers the cost of the home PhD tuition fees (£3300 in 2007/8) and provides a maintenance grant of £12,600 pa.
