[Australia] The University of Newcastle International Postgraduate Research Scholarships

The University of Newcastle International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (UNIPRS)

The University of Newcastle, Australia, is pleased to announce that the UNIPRS scheme is open for 2007. These scholarships will be awarded to high calibre international applicants based on merit. The scholarship covers tuition fees and a living allowance will also be provided by the Faculty in which the scholarship recipient is enrolled.

To be eligible for an UNIPRS, the applicant must:

- Be a commencing student in Semester 1, 2008
- Normally not have previously held a research scholarship
- Submit a completed Application Form
- Meet the University's English language proficiency requirements by the application deadline (that is, applicants must provide evidence of English language proficiency by September 30, 2007 otherwise their applications will not be considered)

Please note that the deadline for UNIPRS applications is September 30, 2007.

Important:

- When applying for research higher degree programs at The University of Newcastle, it is important that applicants attach a research proposal to their application. A sample research proposal can be found on page 72 of our International Postgraduate Prospectus.

How to Apply:

Download, print, and complete the postgraduate Application Form and attach the necessary documentation (don't forget the research proposal!). At Q19, please tick 'yes' to indicate that the applicant wishes to apply for a UNIPRS. Attach original or certified copies of all previous qualifications (academic and professional), including graduation certificates and transcripts.

Attach a certified copy of the personal details page of the applicant's passport.

Please note:

* The University will only accept original or certified documents. Copies must be certified by a University of Newcastle representative or agent (for details, see http://www.international.newcastle.edu.au/04enquiries/representatives_database.asp), a Notary Public, Commissioner for Declarations, Justice of the Peace or an authorised officer of the official records department of the institution that originally issued the document.

* If qualifications were obtained under a former name, please attach the applicant?s present name to the documents.

* Certified translations must accompany documents that are not in English.

* Evidence of graduation should indicate that the academic requirements of the program have been completed or that the award has been conferred.

* Applications to the University DO NOT incur an application fee.

* Successful UNIPRS applicants will be notified from early December to the start of Semester 1, 2008 as funding becomes available.
